Comparative evaluation of dermatoglyphic patterns between skeletal class I and skeletal class III malocclusion

Background: Dermatoglyphics is the study of various dermal configurations on fingers, palms, and soles. These appear during 12th week intrauterine life develop completely by 24th week. It said that they remain constant thereafter. The aim present was to compare assess association dermatoglyphic patterns between skeletal class I III malocclusion. Methods: Finger palm prints were collected using ink roller method from 604 subjects who divided into I, with maxillary retrognathism mandibular prognathism based lateral cephalogram assessment. Results: Loop pattern more predominant in malocclusion whorl frequent other two groups. Total finger ridge count atd angle also showed significant difference groups. Conclusions: attempted assessing malocclusion. Analysing may aid indicating type developing thus help interceptive preventive orthodontics.
